The Kenilworth Place start2stop
outpatient alcohol and substance
dependence treatment program has
been designed for those wanting help
with an addictive disorder but who do
not require inpatient residential
treatment.

The duration of the program is 6
weeks. Participation is twice weekly on
a Monday and Thursday evening from
5 until 7pm at Kenilworth Place.
Attendance at certain other therapeutic
activities is also required. Patients
completing the program may continue
with the Kenilworth Aftercare for a
further three months.

entry criteria for start2stop are:

  • there is no need for a medically supervised detox
  • an ability to remain abstinent for the duration of the entire program
  • an existing suitable social support network
  • must be psychologically stable
    with no psychiatric illness

Each two hour session includes an
educational element and a group
therapy session. Each participant is
allocated a counsellor who will guide
them through the program and ensure
that the therapeutic objectives are met.
Participants are required to complete
written work assignments in
preparation for most sessions.

The cost of the full program is R3600,
payable in advance. Certain medical
aids will pay for the full program, some
will partially pay and others will
reimburse you after payment. A case
manager is available to answer your
queries in this regard.
