FAMILY
PROGRAMME
Addiction
is a family illness
Too
often the family is torn apart by the unpredictable behaviour of the addict
or alcoholic. Our experience is that informed family members, working
their own recovery programme, greatly enhance the success of the treatment.
Being
able to share feelings of anger, frustration, depression and exhaustion,
coupled with a deeper understanding of the disease is the beginning of
the recovery process for the family.
We
offer a family programme, which focuses on creating constructive ways
of learning to live in harmony with the problem. This is held at Kenilworth
Place every Saturday morning from 9am - 12pm and includes a morning tea.
The
programme has a 6-week cycle and is not exclusively for those who have
an addict or alcoholic in primary treatment. Participants can commence
on any Saturday and attendance
of at least four sessions is strongly recommended. The cost is R50 per
person per weekly session.
Family
members are also strongly encouraged to empower themselves in their own
recovery process through on-going participation in Al-Anon or Nar-Anon.
